So, it's Friday again and I've done pretty much sod all, all week! Sometimes my body won't let my mnd do what it wants. Given the choice and an unlimited budget I'd go for a whole new body transplant. Lke the Trill in Deep Space Nine. I have attempted, many times, to explain to people what this Fibromyalgia feels like. The attempt at getting up in the morning, staring at my bookcase for half an hour with my mind screaming ‘Get up. Get up. Get started. You’ll feel better.’ And my body going, Nope. Not a chance. Plus my sleep pattern is all out of kilter (but there are probably some very good reasons for that) which is just a little frustrating! I seem to spend a great deal of time watching DVDs – which is fun, but I think I’m running out of things to watch! I have watched all of Dad’s Army – which is a great series, but I can’t watch it all again; I’ve watched all of the ‘Doctor’ films with Dirk Bogarde, and I’ve considered Chelmsford 123, but the ending is quite sad so I’m not particularly keen. I loathe Norman Wisdom, mainly because I want to reach into the TV and smack him, but Mum used to say that she felt that both Lee Evans and John Cleese did the same. I can see what she meant about John Cleese, but I really like Lee Evans. There’s always Monty Python or Victoria Wood, although I think both DVDs are at the bottom of one of the boxes in the garage. Plus my prickly heat has erupted again on my chest (and we won’t go into details where.) I suppose I could always go back to Fireball XL5 or Thunderbirds, but I have seen them at least 3 or 4 times so I’m not sure whether to do that or not. And yes, I’ve watched Captain Scarlet about the same number of times as well.

I mean, I suppose I could watch ‘Blazing Saddles’ again, I haven’t watched it for ages. And there’s always the Margaret Rutherford ‘Marple’ series which while it doesn’t always stay true to the books, is always an interesting watch. I have been thinking about my Fan Fiction writing recently. Lately I’ve been getting quite a few more reviews, presumably because we’re all stuck at home trying to cope with our very different lives. However, I have learned that writing Fan Fiction is great practice for writing real fiction. For example, one of my best stories was based off the series ‘Scarecrow & Mrs King’ and the amount of research I put into it shows in the reviews. Now I would be the first to say that I hate bad reviews (well who doesn’t) and I had 2 awful reviews for two of my Fan Fiction stories. What made it worse was that I’d actually had it Beta Read (Beta Reading is similar to editing in the Fan Fiction world where other people read and edit your FanFic story for free.) But I made a fatal mistake of replying to one of my critics – they wanted me to fall naked into a cactus patch. They always say, ‘Don’t feed the trolls.’ A hard lesson to learn I think, because you want to reply, you want to tell people, especially readers that you worked damn hard on this piece of writing. But the best thing to do is just to sigh and think, Well, I’m sorry you feel like that. Your loss. John Lydgate sums it up best I think.

I have a little bit of work to do and then I hope to flop for a bit. Oh to be a feline! I know according to Christian Doctrine we only get one life, but if there is such a thing as Reincarnation I'm putting in a request now to be reincarnated as a pampered cat.
