End Of Week (Unless you count Sunday as the first day of the week) Blues

Can’t say I’m particularly pleased about my latest book. For the first time the signature and the end papers were square and it looked really good. I had the cardboard for the cover and I prepped it placing the A3 paper on the card, but as I smoothed it down (to get rid of wrinkles in the paper) it ripped. I even managed to actually get the signatures set properly against the spine, and everything so that’s really, really annoying.

On the plus side my book cradle and pricking jig arrived which means I can now make books and keep the holes uniform – the book shaped object is the cradle and the long thin piece is the pricking jig - because the book cradle and pricking jig are made for A4 booklets I had to add pencil marks on the pricking jig in order to make A5 books. I appreciate I haven’t explained this very well, so I shall try and elucidate. The book cradle and pricking jig are constructed to make A4 books so if you want to make an A5 booklet you have to adjust the pricking jig accordingly – and I still can’t explain it very well. Have been clearing an awful lot of books out of my parents’ house (and there are more up in the loft) and some I can sell – some admittedly I don’t want to sell – and some won’t sell at all, but I have to get rid of them. Ziffit will take them and sometimes pay me for them, but sometimes won’t take them at all. But a site called Zapper will take them, even if it’s for nothing and I can clear some space.

There’s not very much more news from my neck of the woods, Lockdown 2.0 is perhaps getting on my nerves more than Lockdown 1.0 because at least for Lockdown 1.0 you felt that there might be an end to it, although we now (supposedly) have a vaccine; no one’s terribly enthusiastic about it which I find most perplexing. Anyway that’s all my news for the moment, I don’t know what to do with either of the two books are made – to be honest I’m not pleased with either of them – although the second is perhaps slightly better, it’s the damn cover!
