I admit that I haven't written my Blog in ages for a number of reasosn - admittedly none of them very good. The first is that I really haven't got anything to say. I mean I get up in the morning, or because we're having a terrible problem with our freeview (box or signal I have no idea) I tend to watch most of my freeview channels on my Kindle Fire - the only channels I can't get are Horror and CBS Action. I freely admit that I don't understand it. Every channel pixelates. All the Terrestrial Channels including ITV2/ITV3/ITV4 and we're tried everything {well apart from a baseball bat to the television, which probably won't do much good} but we both admit that we're either in a 'black' area so that the signals simply don't get to us, or that there are two conflicting signals both competing with one another.

I have been using my Kindle Unlimited Membership quite a lot - mainly because I spent weeks in agony and was flat on my back. I have been reading many Pride & Prejudice Variations some of which are really good, and some, like the one I just forced myself to read are terrible. Quite apart from the attitude being far too modern for someone with scars or confined to a wheelchair, the spelling errors are quite jarring. It's almost worth buying the paperback to go through the book line by line to underline every single error. For example, Elizabeth suffers from 'scares' on her body (I think the author meant scars) and while I can live with an author using the Americanism, 'Fall' instead of 'Autmn' , the final straw [although I should say straws] were when Elizabeth carries a 'boutique' on her Wedding Day - I think the author meant 'bouquet', and when Darcy looks at Elizabeth and wants to 'ravage' her, but I think he means 'ravish'; I really think that this author should have used a little bit of money and hired a Proofreader. Especially as she was supposed to have been a Forensic Scientist for 15 years! If she made those mistakes as a Forensic Scientist I'd be calling her conclusions into question. Us Proofreaders aren't that expensive! I also don't think that they medical techniques that are applied to Elizabeth's condition were available or recognised at the time; and if I read the word embedded, spelled as imbedded once more, I think I shall scream. My other bugbears are the inability to tell the difference between 'bear' and 'bare' and they seem to think that it's the same word and they seem to assume that 'reign' and 'rein' are also interchangeable. And they have the cheek to criticise my character for appearing too modern.

Some writing is going quite well, some not. My FanFiction comes in fits and starts which is good on the one hand, but not quite so good on the other. It would be nice to be able to start at A and then finish at Z, rather than getting inspiration from something else and a story spiralling out of that which will probably never see the light of day. My original writing died about a year ago and hasn't gone anywhere since. People keep telling me that it will get better, but I don't want to wait until my eighties for my Muse to decide to reappear. And despite what certain societies say about writing a little bit a day, I think they meant a paragraph or a page, not just a single line. I swear, if I could implant a USB Port in the back of my head and download all my stories and ideas, it would certainly solve a few problems [of course the added problem is that I'd fill up all my external hard disk drives within a few hours!]

The felines are fine. We have Dotty on a specialist diet from the Republic of Cats and while it is slightly more expensive than store bought food, the fact that Percy will (given the chance) try to steal her food and because it's fairly high in water content and uses high quality ingredients it's less likely to harm him - bearing in mind that Percy is on a specialist UTI diet. We think he's all right. We also think that our cats are trying to wind the the proverbial p***s out of us, the reason being that sometimes if I need to work on my laptop I will get up and work in the lounge. I will come back to bed because I'm either feeling grotty, or I had a bad night or whatever and I'll find them fast asleep, not exactly side by side, but certainly bottom to bottom. I think they're all right with each other and are trying to play us. I've iincluded a link below to Republic of Cats and if you click it, you get a discount and I get a discount. I've never been much of a salesperson, I tend to go into shops and go, 'Right. This is how much I'm willing to spend and this is what I want. Work with it.'

I had my second Covid-19 jab last Friday and apart from some residual soreness in my arm and a general feeling of bleurggh, I'm all right. I felt sorrier for the poor nurses and doctors who had to explain that 'No, there aren't microchips in the vaccine; no the government aren't tracking you and no, this is not to introduce a virus that will act as a chemical marker.' Just one of the people arguing with the poor nurse/doctor on the table next to mine. My vaccine was done in about 5 minutes, he was still arguing with the medical professional when Edwin wheeled me from the hall.

I'd love to write that I'm having a wonderfully exciting life, and that I'm going to finish this blog, get dressed

and Pierce Brosnan will be arriving in half an hour to whisk me away to his Caribbean island where I shall be served prawns as big as my thumb in a glass the size of my hand, but unfortunately that's not going to happen. {Would be nice if it did though.}
