Where does the week go? Quite a good session at the Creative Writing Group. Jane Seaborne came to visit us – and it’s always great fun when she comes to do a session with us – and because Poetry On Loan paid for her to do so – it was free. Always a good sign – although I could not write a poem about the subject matter – Anniversary. At the moment all my anniversary simply bleak ones – is the anniversary of my father’s death in the end of the month and I still don’t know how I feel about that so being asked to write an anniversary poem when flowers and chocolates of the last things on my mind and of course, since I hadn’t told anyone a year ago, I couldn’t tell anyone now. By keeping silent at painting myself into a corner. I should have collapsed onto my knees, bash my head against the carpet weeping and wailing like a banshee. But can do that either, I love my father, truly I did, but was the end of his life he became very difficult to live with and his numerous Transient Ischaemic Attacks changed his personality – and not for the better. But it’s all water under the bridge. Dealing with the aftermath was the worst, getting the death certificate, organising the funeral – although the Funeral Directors were superb.

However, enough misery for one Blog. Decided to publish my book of poems; but again, formatting it for the Kindle is a blasted nightmare. I left a note on Facebook along the lines of ‘Should I add Chapter Headings and/or an Index of first lines?’ And a couple of people thought that was a good idea. Unfortunately when I tried to add ‘Chapter’ (the title of each poem and its relevant page) the program won’t do it, or doesn’t recognise it. Kindle Create is great for some things – but obviously not for others. So it looks like I’ll have to insert the hyperlinks manually. I’m sure it must be easier for other people. [Or at least I get that impression!] Coupled with this I’m designing my own cover. I’ll let you know how things go.

Later – As you can see I finally sorted it out and have published both, (you can see the cover above) although it’s unlikely that either will be live until tomorrow or Sunday. It has been a really long week, what with Edwin’s car accident; my legs feeling like they going to collapse any minute and generally a feeling that the world is falling apart and there’s nothing, nothing we can do about it one hopes that things will improve by my next Blog. They seriously can’t get any worse.
