Fascinating Friday

Didn’t attend my Creative Writing Group this week. I woke up Tuesday morning and suddenly felt horrendously, horribly nauseous. I couldn’t actually get up and I was lying in bed just feeling grim. So in the end I decided not to go in. I don’t think my group would have appreciated me vomiting all over the table (or over them.) Have been working like crazy proofreading various books, that in itself is interesting, although I’d prefer it if I was working on my novel. Still I’ve ordered the relevant books regarding the Regency Period so I’ll have to let you know how useful they are. Sometimes they are useful; sometimes not. That’s just the way of the world and when you have to use books that haven’t been digitized you don’t get to download a sample of said book to check if it’s something you would find useful. And I’ve found that if I go into libraries, not all of them are particularly helpful when it comes to things like daily life for the time period that you’re interested in.

The above is meant to be the siege of Hougoumont Farm, although if the mounted figure on the left is meant to be Napoleon then the artist should be taken aside and spoken to quite sharply (with forks and pitchforks and needles) because while Napoleon directed the siege; he went nowwhere near Hougoumont Farm. Battles, wars and other conflicts there’s a plethora of information about them; but very little about the daily life of the ladies during that time – it's just the way that things but it’s still very annoying. Anyway, that’s about all my news for now, I may have to go back to handwriting all my chapters for my novel, although this Alpha Smart device is wonderful for writing my Blog and other things, it isn’t quite as good for my novel. Hopefully things will settle now, I have a piece to write for next week’s Creative Writing Group so that should be fun. Will let you know how that goes. I’m hoping that my writing will settle down a bit – maybe I can even finish my novel although I have the sneaking suspicion that I may have to go back to handwriting it and typing it up. Still if that’s my only problem I can’t see it bothering me overmuch.
