It's New Year's Eve...and I've got a stinking cold

Normally, Edwin and I would go out this evening, but as you'll have gathered from the title of this blog I have the most dreadful cold - you know, the works, blocked up nose, sore throat, rasping cough, little appetite and absolutely no desire for anything foodwise. I mean Edwin even did a really nice supper tonight (as it's New Year's Eve) he did a beautiful Chicken Casserole and all I could do was pick at the meat. Normally I would devour the lot and ask for a spoon to scoop up the sauce. I managed about half the chicken breast and had to ask Edwin in to finish the rest. As he said when he took my tray away, 'You really aren't well are you?' To which I could only shrug and agree with him. So I am sitting at home writing this Blog. Actually that's not too bad, I get to most of Spectre - although James Bond has a habit of sending me to sleep and I tend to think that Daniel Craig is more thug than sophisticated spy. On the plus side, we had a nice Christmas Day Lunch and while the presents were somewhat muted I got a really nice bracelet, I did my Mum a hamper of beauty products (you buy the hamper empty and fill it with your choice of goods) although I freely admit that I may have gone a bit overboard with the beauty products [I bought too many.]

I have taken some stuff to treat my cold, but nothing really touches it, I would just not like to feel like curling up in a ball and quietly dying. What makes it worse is that a week ago, I confidently asserted to the Receptionist at the doctor's that I didn't need an influenza jab because I hadn't had a cold in 3 years. Cue Sunday when I woke with a sore throat and started sneezing like a geyser. Well, it will soon be time to change the Calendar, and that should be good. I try to get Edwin and I, and my Mum (and my Dad until he died) a bespoke Calendar every year. At the rate I'm going with presents - other people might be getting the same thing next year. Someone might even get a plushie bookworm. After all, what do you buy the person who has everything? Unless they're a Terry Pratchett fan in which case getting them a Discworld Plushie is definitely on the cards! Time to sign off now, there's no more news for the remainder of the evening, I hope to be able to continue with this Blog, although it may be a weekly thing, rather than a daily one. After all, the problem with a Daily Blog was that I really have no news on a daily basis, my day consists of: Waking up with Edwin; waiting for him to return, having breakfast (usually cereal) then possibly snuggling down with Edwin and sleeping for the remainder of the day (or at least until 1330, at which point I struggle into the lounge, Edwin makes me a snack or lunch, I might snooze again in the chair and play a few games. Not the most exciting of days you have to admit. So maybe if I write a weekly Blog I shall have some more news - or at least some more interesting news.
